Very interesting discussions at the Ethics in the Age of Smart Systems where Bettina Berendt of the Weizenbaum Institut and I presented our work towards Ethical and Technical Opportunities in the Age of Electronic Communication. While we are all convinced that anonymity (provided by anonymous communication technology) can help to early discover fraud and other wrong doing, which in turn might prevent or mitigate catastrophic events, failing vital infrastructures due to sloppy implementation of security measures, it is not at all clear how such a whistle blowing system can be implemented and rolled out. Hope to find out more in the upcoming paper writing process, stay tuned! Checkout the slides of the talk.
